Front door sill and floor (right).

(1961 2CV AZU)

A little more than surface rust…

Cutting out the sill from the door frame and removing spot welds at the A pillar.

Before cutting sill.

After.

The sill is now separated from the car.

The floor is now out and the new sill, which had to be cut to dimension (This sill was for a 4 door 2CV), is ready to be presented in place.

Scary, isn’t it?

After sand blasting and an application of weldable primer. The remaining rust will be treated then sealed by the body shop.

Presentation of the new sill to be welded.

I have punched holes on the floor for spot welding.

I tacked the floor and sill to make sure it is in place and the door opening is correct.

Underneath view.

Welded, grinded and primed.

Since this sill was not intended for this car, the owner will correct the difference at a later date.

The next step will be to paint, then seal all seams.
