Rear Brake line

The job started with a leaky cylinder.

Then I saw a very ugly and dangerously close to the chassis (in low position) brake line.

I removed it and used steel wire to make a rough pattern.

I have cut a 3/16 brake line, which is close to the 4.5mm Citroen brake line, using a line cutting tool.

For large curves, I would use the tool on the right. The one on the left is for small radius curves and very handy to hold the line while you screw it on (Eastwood).

I marked the center of the curve.

Align the marks together and bend to the appropriate radius.

The flaring tool on the right made the proper flare since it is going to an American flexible hose. The one on the left made the olive shaped end to fit the Citroen brake cylinder. Remember to put the fitting nuts before flaring, of course.

Also, on the Citroen end, do the “flaring” before bending. The Citroen tool requires a lengthy tube….

Job done.

Since the brake fluid attacked the paint over the years, I put light coat of grease to protect momentarily the exposed metal. I will repaint these parts later.

The brake line is closer to the suspension arm and nicer to look at.

The left side, which will be replaced at a later date.
